The use of alcohol and other drugs (AOD) at the workplace is a significant occupational health and safety concern. These substances have a variety of effects on users depending on the type and amount of the substance consumed. Effects includes an alteration in mental and physical capabilities which can lead to poor judgement and reasoning, loss of control and coordination, mood changes, risk-taking behaviour, an increase in accidents and injuries, and long-term health effects.

This Drug and Alcohol Awareness Training course has been designed to equip individuals and companies with an understanding of rights and responsibilities in relation to alcohol and other drugs at the workplace. This training covers signs and symptoms of AOD abuse as well as long-term effects, testing methods and responsibilities of the workplace, purpose and implementation of a workplace Alcohol and Other Drug Strategy, as well as statistical and legal background information.
