Steve Penfold

Steve is a Director of DRA Safety Specialists and has been involved with WHS since 1989, where he consults to a wide variety of clients in relation to training, auditing, investigation and assistance with their safety management systems (design, development and implementation).

Prior to this Steve was employed in the building materials manufacturing and supply industry (concrete, quarries and asphalt) where he has performed a variety of managerial roles including technical, operations systems and national risk manager where he gained solid experience and knowledge in Manufacturing, Transport, Laboratories, Quality, Environment, Health & Safety, Information Technology, Human Resources and Training.

  • Developed and delivered a wide variety of OHS training courses to a variety of clients, under DRA Safety Specialists RTO certification, including Government accredited courses such as the Safety Representative and Safety Officer, Construction Induction (White Card), Work at Heights, Confined Spaces, Fire Safety, etc.
  • Developed Safety Management Systems and conducted numerous audits for a wide variety of DRA Safety Specialists’ clients.
  • Developed audit tools and conducted safety, quality and environmental audits of operations for Hymix, Hanson and Boral construction materials.
  • Developed, implemented, delivered and assessed nationally recognised competency based training programs under Boral’s RTO certification, to the Construction Materials Group business units throughout QLD and NT.
  • Developed and implemented a national (intranet based) Integrated Risk Management System (Safety, Environment and Quality) for Hymix Australia. (Based on the ISO9001, AS4801, AS14001 and ISO17025 management system standards).
  • Achieved and maintained corporate quality certification (NCSI) to AS/NZS ISO 9001, for Hymix Australia.
  • Managed Worker's Compensation and Rehabilitation for Hymix Qld.
  • Maintained Health and Environmental monitoring schedules for Hymix Qld and Boral Asphalt Qld.
  • Conducted many compliance and management system audits nationally (for Safety, Environment, Quality and Mechanical Testing).
